Hypnosis and weight loss are words that you would not expect to go together.

However hypnosis has a role to play in weight loss as many people become frustrated with the short term effects of yo-yo dieting and crash diets they are seeking a deeper understanding of why they can’t lose weight or cant seem to keep it off.

Hypnosis can be the first step along the path to a healthy weight and maintaining that weight for life.

Being overweight can result in increased levels of heart disease, raised cholesterol levels and diabetes none of which are particularly good for the health. Knowing this how can hypnosis help with weight loss?

If you are wishing to try hypnosis as a form of weight loss it is advisable that you use one that comes with a recommendation from a family member or friend to avoid some of the less well trained and amateurish members of the hypnosis profession.

Hypnotherapy can take a number of forms from intensive courses over a couple of hours to longer courses of treatment lasting weeks or even months. Some hypnotherapists when dealing with the issue of weight loss use a two part system.

The first part of the system deals with the patient’s behaviour concerning food such as why they feel that they are eating too much and helps them to understand this behaviour.

The second part of the treatment concerns altering the behaviour of the patient. This can be done by the power of suggestion once the subject has been hypnotised. By implanting suggestions such as you are no longer interested in cream cakes and biscuits and now prefer the taste and smell of fruit and vegetables a skilled hypnotist is able to alter the behaviour of his or her patient.

Hypnosis is therefore useful in the weight loss battle especially for people who have failed to lose weight by other means.
