Permanent weight loss should be the goal of everyone who
is seeking to lose weight.
Rather than the ups and downs of yo-yo dieting which can
have serious health implications a sustained and gradual
loss of weight is desirable.
We have all tried diets that promise the world and in the
short term they seem to work as weight can come off very
quickly on any calorie restricted diet. However once a normal
diet is resumed any weight lost is quickly regained because
the body stores more of the food taken in as fat or former
bad dietary habits are resumed. A long term plan is required
if you wish to make any weight loss you have achieved permanent.
This need not be a daunting prospect. Losing weight is
the hard part of dieting keeping it off should be easy if
you follow and maintain a sensible eating control and exercise
plan. The benefits of losing weight and maintaining a healthy
weight are amongst other things increased energy and reduced
stress levels, improved health and well being and positive
effects on your self confidence and an increased sex drive.
All of these things are obviously very desirable so why
not gain them for life instead of just a few short months
on the latest fad or crash diet?
To make sure that your weight loss is permanent there are
few key things that you need to do. Do not go back to former
bad habits you will only regret it. Create and follow a
healthy eating plan. This does not mean that you can only
eat fruit and veg but it does mean that you have to be sensible;
curries every night are a no no.
Regular exercise is also a must. This does not necessarily
mean going to the gym every night but make sure you do some
physical activity every day even if it just walking the
dog.
